Cleared Area
In this article I shall try to explain the ideal way to install a Finula reservoir into the ground so that it sits flush with the finished floor level, for a smaller water feature that does not require any further concrete support. A standard  tub can comfortably hold a water feature up to 250kg in weight and that is the reason that we recommend its use. The diameter of the medium tub is 1000mm and so consideration needs to be made when selecting what size or reservoir to use is the width and height of the stone and the flow of water that will be required. Obviously the stone has to fit within the reservoir but the recycling water needs to contained in use, if a fast water flow is needed on a stone higher than then approx.600mm then you should consider adding the top cover that will increase the base to a 1400mm diameter. On this particular feature although it is a tall example, because there was only a low water flow the medium tub was sufficient.

Hole Dug
Once the selected area has been cleared and levelled the top cover can be placed on the ground and from this you can mark the area that needs to be excavated. Follow this marking and carefully remove the soil as required. Your soil type will decide how easily this task is completed as a clay type will hold its shape well and with sandier types the sides do tend to crumble more. Remove the soil to a depth slightly deeper than the reservoir and  spread a layer of soft sand on the base to bring it up to height. When the reservoir is placed into the hole the wings should fit around the areas that have been extracted and this will give the tub extra support. Sometimes there is a bit of a vacuum underneath these wings and this should be filled by compacting sand or soil underneath them.

Base Fitted
Now that the base is completed and dirt should be cleaned out of the reservoir and then the top cover is placed on top.On one of the three sides there is a panel removed that allows for access to the pump. This side should be facing the back if possible but just remember that you will need to be able to get to this if any maitenance is required.

Cover Added
After the cover is in place the feature is then added and this should be placed as centrally as possible to ensure that the weight is distributed evenly across the reservoir. The hose should idealy pass through the large hole in the centre of the cover and then the pump is attached to the hose.Water should be added at this point to above the pump level and then the system should be checked to make sure that everything is working correctly and any adjustments made at this point.Once you are happy that the feature is working correctly the reservoir needs to be filled with water to the top and the inspection cover added. This will then allow for the pebbles of your choice to be spread over the cover deep enough to hide it completely.Usually 75kg of pebbles are sufficient for this purpose. Then all that needs to be done is to sit back, admire your endeavours and enjoy the feature.
